Girls Varsity Basketball · Hillcrest Women Finish Strong!

A big congratulations to our Hillcrest Women’s Basketball Team on an incredible win and a strong finish to their regular season play tonight defeating Cyprus 50-32! WAY TO GO LADIES!!!

Highlights from the game: Amanda   Means scored 16, Brinlee McRae 10, Nicole Wilson 8 and Arleigh Sorensen 6.

With tonight’s win the team will head into the State Tournament next week 12-10 on the year and 8-4 in region play. They will face Taylorsville on Monday morning and will look to advance to playing on Wednesday night at 7.

Tonight was also Senior Recognition Night for the Lady Huskies and marked the final Varsity Basketball game to be played in the Art Hughes Gymnasium. We are so proud of these girls, Coach Olenick and the rest of the team!

Athletic Director Sally Williams commented, “The girls game did not disappoint tonight. I love our kids, they are what sports are all about, they have heart and they will get so much more out of their sports experience because of it.”

Coach Olenick was beaming with pride and said, “I’m so proud of our group of seniors this season, and the many ways they affect and influence the underclassmen in positive & impactful ways. Their effort and work ethic on a daily basis is something to be admired, and has certainly set the tone for years to come. We will miss them and are grateful for all they’ve given to this program!!”

Alumni turned out for the final performance and signed an official game ball to be put on display in the new gym building later this year.

Once again we are full of pride and admiration for our Athletes. It’s a great day to be a Husky!

Good luck at State ladies! You’ve got this!
