Hundreds gathered on Wednesday, February 13th in the Hillcrest Auditorium for this years Renaissance Feaste hosted by the Choral Music Department; a tradition that began back in 1986 By Dr. Brian Bentley. “The incredible costuming is continually being updated” said Ranae Dalgleish, who also mentioned that she tries to add or change things up just a bit while keeping the tradition of it all very much alive.
For $20, all who attended received a night full of entertainment and lots of yummy food served on beautiful pewter dishes!
Along with performances from our Choral Department, the night featured a string quartet, herald trumpets and an impressive student directed acting troupe who presented a comical production of Hamlet.
Band director Austin Hilla also joined the fun and is featured here playing Kind Henry VIII!
Director Ranae Dalgleish, gave a big thank you to all who helped make the night possible and said, “Thanks to the parents and my sweet husband for pulling off a nearly impossible task! And a special thanks to the students who—even though at times I had to pull you along singing Renaissance songs—you pulled it together and learned about this beautiful era of music. May you always remember the time you traveled back in time to the Renaissance castle! ”
The artistic direction and community support for our students and the Performing Arts Programs here at Hillcrest never cease to amaze us! It was truly an incredible night back in time.
