This year our Mountain Bike Team “CottonCrest” celebrated 7 years of teaming up together to embark on another great season spent up in the Mountains!
CottonCrest is made up of Athletes from both Hillcrest and Cottonwood with 33% of the team being made up of Female Athletes; a number they hope to see continue to grow.
Our MTB Team is an all inclusive club sport that competes in Division 2 among teams all across the state of Utah. The team welcomes Male and Female riders of all levels! In Mountain Biking, No One gets benched! There are Freshman – Senior members on the team and each individual is provided one-on-one coaching with individual goals set from week to week.
Tony Stowe, the teams Head Coach, commented how much he loves coaching the team and that the greatest reward is watching each kid grow as individuals and realize strength within themselves that many of them didn’t know existed.
Mountain Biking has provided not only an exhilarating and challenging experience for the athletes but has also provided them with an outlet that helps manage anxiety and stress and ultimately builds up the confidence of everyone who participates.
The Mountain Bike season typically runs from April – November. They begin with “Fun Rides” in the spring to help teach the students the skills needed to ride and host team building unity activities year round. They work through the summer to build-up their stamina and from there they begin training for their Competition Season which ends with a State Championship.
The Utah State Championship was held in Cedar City this year and the team did a fantastic Job! Make sure to check out the latest photo gallery for all of the pictures!
